Our Classmate Roger Brown was kind enough to share with me Jane's obituary:
Dorothy Jane "Jane" Sienkiewicz (née Lancaster), a lifelong resident of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, leaving a legacy of deep love, warmth, and devotion to her family and community. She was genuinely the nicest person you would ever meet, known by all for her boundless kindness and gentle spirit. Born to the late Nancy and John "Jack" Lancaster, Jane was a proud alumna of Glenbard West High School and Illinois State University. She channeled her passion for education into her early career, working for a period as a local teacher. Her faith and community were always central to her life, and she was a dedicated parishioner of Saint Petronille Church in Glen Ellyn. Jane spent her lifetime giving back to others, dedicating numerous hours to volunteering and working with the elderly. Over the years, she touched many lives through her work with the Glen Ellyn Clinic and by supporting seniors at the Glen Ellyn Park District. In the final years of her life, Jane resided at Atria Park in Glen Ellyn, where her warm spirit continued to shine. True to her welcoming nature, she served on the community's Welcoming Board, ensuring every new resident felt at home. Jane’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, John Sienkiewicz II. She was the devoted mother of four children: Amy Trussell (née Given) and her husband Michael; Charles Given and his wife Rebecca; David Given and his wife Renee; and John Sienkiewicz III. To her six grandchildren, she was affectionately known as "Grammie." Her cherished grandchildren include Jacob and Tyler Trussell; Miles and Josephine Given; and Wrigley and Charlee Given. Jane is also survived by her loving siblings: her sister Susan "Sue" McKay and her husband Tim, and her brother John Lancaster and his wife Janet, along with many dear nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of lifelong friends who will miss her dearly.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Petronille Catholic Church on September 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. A reception will take place at the Lake Ellyn Boathouse from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jane's memory to the Glen Ellyn Junior Woman's Club at PO Box 2234, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137, or via email at mailto:glenellynjuniors@gmail.com
I'm so sorry to hear about Jane. She was always so nice and fun to talk to. I remember her talking about maybe wanting to be a teacher but we lost touch after high school. Prayers to her family.
I'm sorry to hear about Jane's passing. She was very active and involved at Glenbard West. I remember Ken Given and her were always together in school. I'm sure she was an excellent mother and grandmother. May her family have peace about the good life she lived. Rest in peace, Jane.
So sorry to hear about Jane. We lived across the street from one another. Haven't talked to her since high school, but she was a very nice and good person. RIP Jane
I'm sorry to hear about Jane's passing. We were always seated next to each other in class because of our alphabetical last names. My sympathy to her family.
I was sorry to read of Jane's passing. We went to Forest Glen Elementary together and we were in the same Brownie troop and Girl Scout troop, so many greatmemories. Jane's mom was one of our troop leaders. Sending prayers for her family and rest in peace sweet Jane.
I was so sorry to hear about Jane's passing. When I first moved to Glen Ellyn, Jane was the first person I met and introduced me to so many friends. Always had a smile on her face. My condolences to her family.
