Julie never joined this website, nor (to my knowledge) did she attend recent reunions, but we all have good memories of her from back at GW when she was so involved in school activities, a good student, and just a nice person. The following obituary appeared in The Chicago Tribune:
Julie Ann Heller (nee Murphy), age 73, of Western Springs, IL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 24, 2026, after battling cancer for the past year. She grew up in Glen Ellyn, IL and attended Glenbard West High School before graduating from the University of Illinois in 1974. Julie taught English at Prairie Junior High School in Alsip, IL for 35 years and was loved by both students and staff. She was involved in raising money for health services for the underserved and supported higher education for women. Julie is survived by her husband, Rich; daughter Kate (Lillie); son-in-law Jake; grandson Logan; and brother Tom Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Evelyn Murphy. A memorial service is planned for April 11, 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at First Congregational Church of Western Springs. Thoughts, prayers, and remembrances may be posted atNeptunesociety.com/obituaries.Donations in remembrance of Julie may be directed to Pillars Community Health, P.E.O. International or the American Cancer Society.
So sad to hear about Julie. We had such a great time at Glenbard! Overnight stays, trips to a cottage on twin lakes, decorating for proms. She was such a sweet person. Prayers to her family.
I'm sad to read that Julie has passed. I best knew Julie growing up at Forest Glen grade school. She was a sweet girl and friend to my sister Lynn and I.
I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about Julie. She was a lot of fun in Spanish classes. Knowing her, I'm certain she was an outstanding educator. She was a bright light. My condolences to her family.
