I believe Bob moved to Glen Ellyn either freshman or sophomore year. I lived at 342 Hawthorne. I believe he lived on Linden. We would walk, on occasion, to school together. Aftter graduation, in August of 1970, Bob, myself, Tom Heighway, John Rehm, and Jim Gringes traveled to and attended the Goose Lake Music Festival. We saw Mountain, Ten Years After, Chicago,John Sebastian,James Gang and many more. We had a blast!!!
Bob was a good friend of mine right after he moved to town, sometime during junior high school I think (a very imprecise memory though). The thing I do remember is that we had a lot of laughs together. He was a great friend. As so often happens we did not cross paths much in high school and so grew apart. I knew that he had died before our first 10-year reunion but I did not know how. I had done some Google searches over the years but had never come up with anything. A few years ago I finally ran across this New York Times article. Just occured to me that I should fill in the record. A real shame.

How sad that he died so young, he had just started living his life.

Tragic indeed. Though I didn't know him well, I do remember Bob. Yes, he passed far too young.

He died too young. I remember hearing about this. So sad.

That's awful.....RIP.Marsha Virene (Matthews)
That's so sad about Bob passing at such a young age. I remember him as a very nice and polite young man with a good sense of humor.

I don't recall Bob beyond recognizing the name, but I was living in Texarkana at the time and recall the local news.

What a shame. I remember Bob always smiling and making me laugh. He was a good egg. So sorry he is gone.
